The Volunteer Citizens on Patrol Program (vCOP) in Baie-D’Urfé started up in May 2009. We are currently accepting applications for this program.

In general, vCOP does not intervene; it is an observer patrol.

As a member of vCOP, you are expected to act in a professional manner and consider your own personal safety at all times. You are responsible for patrolling the Town of Baie-D’Urfé, reporting problematic or suspicious activities or situations and to act as additional "eyes and ears" for the Town. vCOP assists the Rescue Squad, Emergency Medical Services (Urgences-Santé), Police, Fire and Public Works departments by informing them quickly of situations that need their attention, such as car accidents, out-of-order street lights or suspicious activities.

vCOP members have no special authority to contravene any section of the Criminal Code, highway traffic code or similar regulations. The goal of the vCOP program is to identify problematic areas or situations and call in for the appropriate resources, only directly intervening when it is absolutely necessary or when authorized to do so by a vCOP Director.
